Extend a Helping Hand @ Evie’s Closet.

“This weather may be breaking our hearts but it will not be breaking our will,”
– Anna Bligh, Queensland Premier.

Milly Fundraiser 2

For those of you who don’t watch the world news, a series of floods have devastated parts of Australia, primarily in the state of Queensland, since December 2010.

The floods have forced the evacuation of thousands of people from towns and cities, including my own hometown. Vast areas of Southern and Central Queensland were affected by the flood, a land mass larger than Germany and France combined. In addition, the city of Brisbane, the 3rd largest in Australia, and parts of northern New South Wales have now been inundated.

Some people have lost everything. Their homes, their pets and livestock, their businesses, their loved ones and their lives.

You can see local coverage of the floods here: Courier Mail Website

As the flooding continues, I’m delighted that Sanura Sakai has put together a Second Life Fundraiser called Extend a Helping Hand (EaHH), the aim of which is to raise funds for the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.

As part of that fundraiser, you can drop in to Evie’s Closet now, to pick up your copy of the Milli Dress in black, for just L$375, with 75% of the proceeds going towards the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.

To see more pictures of the dress, click here and here.

(If you’d like to see the dress in person, one of the store models will be wearing it.)

You can also visit the EaHH Event Hall until the 8th of February to buy the dress and purchase other amazing items donated by creators around the grid, to benefit Queenslanders.

To provide complete transparency to this process, transaction history for all donations will be provided at the close of the event at http://katjohnston.com. Kat Johnston is the real life name of Sanura Sakai, who will be running the event. Both Kat and her family also live in the flood-effected towns.
